A new EU-funded, Irish-primarily based job aims to leverage the so-termed ‘metaverse’ – or extended truth (XR) tech – to benefit the media and arts sectors.

The €9m Transmixr project is to be led out of the Technological College of the Shannon (TUS). It will convey collectively a consortium of researchers, layout associates and media providers from 19 countries.
Transmixr is staying funded by the EU’s Horizon Europe fund, which is focused to new systems and innovation. It will aim on supporting distant collaboration techniques between media and material creators who use XR, as very well as providing an avenue for intake of XR media ordeals.
Dr Niall Murray, the TUS-based mostly coordinator of Transmixr, claimed it would “ignite the immersive media sector by enabling new narrative visions”.
