A$AP Rocky begged 1 of his go-to designers to make him an outfit for the 2021 Achieved Gala from a thrifted quilt.
The rapper built a splash very last September when he stepped out at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City alongside his girlfriend Rihanna sporting a large handmade quilt.
In a new interview for Dazed, A$AP Rocky uncovered that he realized he required to put on the item to the once-a-year style bash following spotting it in Eli Russell Linnetz’s studio.
“I went to Eli’s location – Eli Russell Linnetz – he owns the label ERL – and when I walked in there was this quilt just sitting on the couch. I was like, ‘Can I have that quilt?’ And he was like, ‘Well, I really just thrifted it.’ He experienced picked out a few appears for me, but I was on his a*s about that quilt,” the star recalled. “And so, he stitched it together and designed it a tailor made piece. That is how I made the decision to don a quilt to the Met Gala.”
And when A$AP Rocky, true title Rakim Mayers, and Rihanna ended up coordinating on the crimson carpet, he insisted they did not approach out their outfits.
“I didn’t know what she was wearing, she didn’t know what I was sporting,” the 33-12 months-outdated asserted.
